The European Union (EU), in cooperation with Consumer rights authorities in 28 European countries, has just published results from a survey of 369 web-shops for electronics, checking if the shops fulfilled the EU legal framework and regulations for internet sales of electronic equipment. These regulations, among others, state consumer rights to product information, total pricing, payment security procedures, information on sellers, guarantees, return policies etc.
Of those 369 web shops, 55% did not fulfill the EU framework, and authorities in each country will take action accordingly.
In Iceland 10 web-shops were investigated and only two of them fulfilled the EU framework. One of these is elko.is, which runs EC Shop.
A great effort was put into ensuring that EC Shop complies with the EU framework for e-commerce, and from this survey EC Software can proudly conclude that this effort has been recognized.
